5 reasons why people keep coming back to Beef Week
AT THE end of May, each year in Casino a special fever grips the town.
It's commonly known as Beef Week fever, where shops are transformed, business owners dress up, buskers play, butchers provide breakfast and everyone generally has a great time.
This year the 2016 NCMC CasinoBeef Week is on from May 21to 31 which means it's not even two weeks away.
Beef Week President, Stuart George is looking forward to welcoming over 20,000 locals and visitors from far and wide to Casino and explains why he thinks people keep returning to Beef Week.
"The 2016 program is full of great activities and lots of fun events for young and old," he said.
"Beef Week is different to shows and exhibits. It's a unique community festival and there is nothing else like it."
Top 5 reasons why people return to Casino Beef Week:
1. Catching up with old friends and family:
Beef Week is a great reason to come home. People that have moved away travel from far and wide to come back for Beef Week and to catch up with family and friends at the races and the main Saturday.
2. The legendary Beef Week spirit comes alive:
This special fever takes over the town as the community spirit shines through when Beef Week approaches.
3. Cattle in the street:
You'll be able to watch cattle in the street while having a few drinks at the pub or browsing through markets and the kids alley. Over 15,000 people come to the CBD on the main Saturday of Beef Week enjoying the cattle competitions, whip cracking, beef expo, wood chopping, amusement rides, markets and more.
4.It's not only for beef lovers and steer jocks.
Yes, there is cattle in the street and it is called Beef Week, but there is much more than that. Event organisers work with volunteers and community groups to host over 100 different fun events during the 11-day festival. There is something for everyone - from art, music, fashion and craft, to races, sporting comps, dress ups and live entertainment plus so much more.
5.FREE Breakfast with the Butchers:
This is a must. Enjoy either locally made snag or steak sandwiches and chocolate and strawberry milk drinks at the breakfast. It is the event that consumes over a half a tonne of local beef annually, and this year is set to be no exception. There is also plenty of attractions for the whole family to enjoy; including laughing clowns, face painting for the little ones, loads of live entertainment, sausage competitions, the cow milking competition, cow pat lotto and the busking competition finals on stage.
