8 of the region's worst corners
THE Northern Rivers is fairly well known among locals for having some of the most, ahem, interesting roads in the country.
Here are some that our office staff suggested.
Comment below if you have any others to add to the list.
Donnans Road: Multiple places
From the dodgy hairpin turn on the approach to Bangalow Road, to the sweeping corner near Kareela Avenue and beyond, this can be a tricky road to navigate during its entire length.
Bangalow Road: S-Bend at Binna Burra
A notorious crash zone, the rail bridge was in recent years removed due to the number of trucks that collided with it.
The Coast Road: Multiple corners
A well-known road for crashes, most local motorists are well aware of the dangers this road poses.
Bangalow Road: Corner between Bexhill and the Richmond Hill turn off
This large bend can be a dangerous stretch of road, and has been the scene of a fatality in the past.
Cowlong Road, McLeans Ridges: Corner near Soward Close
Another fatal corner in our patch.
Nimbin Road: Bend after Goolmangar village
This corner is known to take out a lot of vehicles, especially when wet.
Bruxner Highway: Between Drake and Tenterfield
Almost the entire journey holds gut wrenching twists and turns in its wake.
Bentley Road: S-Bend at Boorabee Park
A strong bend with a blind corner is not a good mix.
