Nearly 1000 soccer juniors heading to Alstonville carnival

ALSTONVILLE will be the gathering point on Sunday for about 126 junior soccer teams who will participate in the annual Villa FC Junior Carnival.

The hugely successful event that has been convened for many years attracts teams from near and far.

Nominations almost always challenge Alstonville FC, Football Far North Coast's biggest member club, to cater for every team wanting to be part of the football fun.

There will be new participants at the carnival this year from Burleigh Heads, Palm Beach, Stanthorpe, and Maclean.

Carnival convenor Gaetano Astone and his team have been planning for many months to ensure that participants experience a magnificent day.

"All we need now is for favourable weather, but everything is ready to go," Astone said.

With one of the biggest single days bringing players ranging from 5 to 11 together, Northern NSW Football is sending MiniRoos Development Officer Mat Fox along to offer information for coaches and parents.

The carnival starts about 9am on Sunday at Geoff Watt Oval Alstonville.
