AFL greats have a blast over China match
GOLD Coast players face a 10-hour flight to Shanghai in economy class.
Suns coach Rodney Eade said with no direct flights from the Gold Coast to China, it would take the team "20 to 21 hours" from start to finish.
Eade also revealed some Suns would be forced to travel in economy with only the taller players seated in business class or exit rows.
"Not many players are in business or exit rows. That's more my concern, the preparation of the players," he told Triple M.
Gold Coast faces Port Adelaide on Sunday next week in the first game for premiership points in China.
Eade's former assistant and eventual replacement at Sydney labelled the trip ridiculous, while Wayne Carey called it extraordinary.
"I can't believe there's even a game on based on what Rocket just told us. That's ridiculous," Roos said.
The weather will also be an issue in China with a forecast of 31 degrees, sandstorms and extreme pollution.
Eade revealed the club would not be taking players with respiratory issues.
"That smog ... hopefully there's no respiratory problems," he said.
"We won't take any players who have got asthma or have got respiratory problems anyway.
"So that'll have to all be decided on Tuesday, so there may be some changes."
