Anniversary Bluesfest picks up two chief awards
THE 25th anniversary Bluesfest held in April in Byron Bay has claimed two major awards, winning the Helpmann Award for Best Contemporary Music Festival as well as the Gold Award for the Major Festival and Events Category at the North Coast Tourism Awards.
Bluesfest director Peter Noble said it was an honour to receive the awards in their silver jubilee year.
"We were up against some really tough competition. I want to thank my whole team - without them this wouldn't be possible," said Mr Noble.
"I am proud to be bringing another award home to Byron Bay. I used to say this is the regional festival capital of Australia, but now I say it's Australia's festival capital and a world centre for the arts."
