Amy Shark sinks millions into home town

SINGER songwriter Amy Shark, who's topped the charts with her Love Monster album, sank millions into her hometown just days before scooping up three ARIAS.

Shark, who's real world name is Amy Billings, won best album, best female artist and best pop release at the 2018 ARIA awards at the end of November - just six days after clearing a $2.25 million cheque for a piece of Queensland's Glitter Strip, according to latest CoreLogic records.

The payment came two years after the pop star was snapped up by Sony Music off her independent success with songs like Golden Fleece and Adore.

Born and bred on the Gold Coast, where she met Kiwi husband Shane Billings, the singer now has the ultimate waterfront lifestyle with a five-bedroom house on a massive 908sq m block in Broadbeach.

It's so big it can host massive parties, with the listing describing it as "the ultimate entertainer" with indoor-outdoor flow, alfresco areas, an inground pool, am 8m pontoon and views of the Gold Coast skyline. The property also has a media room, a super-sized rumpus room, and the bonus of a fully self-contained bedroom, living room and bathroom with its own private entrance.

The pair have stayed committed to Gold Coast real estate, having put in over half a million dollars in 2015 for their three bedroom home they nicknamed "The Bach" - after what Kiwis call beach houses.

Just four minutes from the beach in Broadbeach, Ms Billings told News Corp Network soon after buying it that "we love that it is not in the glitz and glamour of Broadbeach but at night it's like you still feel among it. Obviously it's also really close to the beach so we can just chuck a towel in the bike and ride on down."

The couple had a long run plan to "put another storey on" the three bedroom property, but have now decided instead to upsize to the $2.25m five bedder.

They're keeping The Bach though and put it up for rent at $595 a week in November - and it's already been snapped up.

The new neighbours can expect plenty of laughter and music in the back yard based on how the couple used their old space: "When we have friends over we sit outside and people bring kids over and we usually put big blankets out on the grass" they told News Corp.

Shark has just completed sold out concerts in London and Manchester in the UK.
