BEACHES in the Ballina area remain closed after a large shark was spotted near surfers yesterday.
The shark was spotted from an ultralight aircraft and people on board called triple-0.
Richmond LAC Inspector Doug Conners said police will reassess the situation at 11am.
Sharpes Beach, Angels Beach, Shelly Beach and Lighthouse Beach remain closed.
