THE Rookies' state championship is to be played on under-cover synthetic greens at RaymondTerrace for the next five years.

Six thousand bowlers have played in this event's singles and pairs since its inception in 2009, making it Bowls NSW's most popular innovation.

Entries are now open.

Qualifying play will be held across the state - singles August 29-30; pairs September 19-20 - to find 16 zone winners in each category. They will proceed to the finals on October 17-18.
