Kyogle students make new banners for Anzacs
KYOGLE RSL president Mark Hills was "blown away" by the beauty of the gigantic banners made by Kyogle High School students for Anzac Day.
"It's the first time I've seen them," Mr Hills said.
Having served in Vietnam in 1965-66, Mr Hills attended the assembly at which they were revealed with fellow RSL members Doug Grove, Dylan Rushby and Jack McDonough.
The banners will adorn the streets of Kyogle on Anzac Day and for the first time the school captains will be part of the dawn service.
Teacher Mia McDonough said the banners took five weeks to make.
"I thought about my Dad (Jack McDonough) and about what we could do," Ms McDonough said.
Two exchange students form Finalnd helped paint the banners, principal Gae Masters said.
"The students have embraced the whole thing," Ms Masters said.
