Bentley protesters gather outside Thomas George's office
THE SPIRIT of the Bentley Blockade was alive and well in Lismore today as a crowd of about 150 people gave an impromptu performance of the blockade's anthem, Go Gently At Bentley, outside Lismore MP Thomas George's office.
The crowd turned up to give one last show of their determination to see the region made permanently gasfield free ahead of a NSW Government decision tomorrow whether to lift or maintain the suspension of Metgasco's PEL16 exploration licence.
A petition of almost 350 signatures was delivered to Thomas George's staff, even though the Lismore MP was not available.
"Hopefully common sense will prevail, and the suspension will either be continued, or the licence cancelled," Knitting Nanna Against Gas Anne Thompson said.
