Crews called to North Coast fire

UPDATE 2PM:

FIRE crews were called to the scene of a fire in the Tweed earlier today only to discover it was a private burn off.

Uki Rural Fire Brigade responded to reports of a fire near Smiths Creek Rd in Smiths Creek earlier today.

A spokesman said crews initially had trouble finding the small fire, which turned out to be a private burn off.

FIREFIGHTERS are at the scene of a small fire on the North Coast

Uki Rural Fire Brigade were sent to Smiths Creek Rd in Smiths Creek, near Stokers Siding in the Tweed, just before midday today.

A spokesman said the fire appears to have started on the side of the road.
