Breast Friends Girls Night In raises $16,000

THE Breast Friends Ballina and Lennox Head held their annual Girls Night In function last Friday at Dunes on Shelly Beach.

It is the 10th year Deb Grant has held a Girls Night In, and the Breast Friends component of it has been going for years.

"We again raised a massive $16,000 with 184 tickets sold for the evening," she said.

"Primarily the money is donated to the Breast Cancer Support Group in Ballina, the Cancer Council, and then shared to local women in need throughout the year.

"Last year, besides the major donations to both groups, we paid simple things like rates, car repairs, medical expenses, specialised undergarments, fuel and food vouchers.

"We were voted Community Event of the Year 2013, and were nominated for the Ballina Shire Australia Day Awards 2015. We have more than 500 likes on our Facebook page now, and the shared views for posting reach over 5000 views."

The event was organised by Ms Grant, Heather Horley, Natasha Loosemore and Tracey Stephenson.
