Brooke set for Beef Week’s ‘royal duties’
PRESCHOOL teacher Brooke Hancock has been named Beef Week Queen for 2014, and her social calendar for the week just got extremely busy.
The 21 year-old who has lived all her life in Casino was at the Evans Head Beef Meets Reef day yesterday and will have royal duties to perform throughout Beef Week celebrations.
She will be a judge of the shop window displays in Casino on Tuesday and attend the fashion parade at Casino RSM.
Then there's the breakfast with the butchers on Friday morning, race day on Friday before the big parade next Saturday and family fun day next Sunday.
Brooke is currently studying early childhood education at SCU and said she had a small acreage with a few horses and cows when she was growing up.
She entered the Beef Week Queen competition because she's always seen it from the sidelines and thought it would give her "a different view of the running of Beef Week."
Her Royal Highness said her family and friends hadn't let the promotion to Casino royalty go to her head.
"They've been very loud, but very loving and supportive," she said.
