Clutch wave puts Coolum's Wilson in Quiksilver Pro final

A high-scoring wave with 22 seconds to go has put Coolum's Julian Wilson in his first ever Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast final.

Wilson trailed Miguel Pupo for the entire semi-final before scoring a 7.83 in the dying seconds to clinch a thrilling victory.

Pupo responded in the final seconds with his own high-scoring waves and both surfers were forced to wait nervously on the beach before judge's award points.

The win sees Wilson move into the final for the first time at Snapper Rocks.
