Concern for residents’ fitness from both political parties

IT SEEMS the politicians want to keep the residents of Kyogle fit and healthy, which is never a bad thing.

Back in 2013 while campaigning to keep her seat in the last federal election Janelle Saffin had promised to help move the community gym from the showgrounds, next to the Kyogle Memorial pool with a $500,000 grant.

Today the current federal member for Page Kevin Hogan, now taking his turn to stay in power, announced a $250,000 funding commitment by a re-elected coalition government to upgrade Kyogle's pool and build a new gym.

The pool is a great community asset and one that is very well used," he said.

"This grant of $250,000 will allow the pool to be used all year round with the existing medium-sized pool converted into an indoor-heated pool and the construction of a new gym and amenities."

This upgrade is the first stage of a planned indoor sports complex which will include the pool and extend onto the vacant block next to the pool.

"This is all part of my plan to create sustainable communities for local families and businesses, while attracting new residents and investment from further afield."
