Construction works on main entrance to begin at Lismore Base

WORKS on the main entrance of Lismore Base Hospital will begin on Monday April 20.

The $80.25 million Lismore Base Hospital Stage 3a Redevelopment includes the construction of a new main entrance forecourt and Patient drop-off zone for the hospital, Executive Director, Richmond Clarence Health Service Group, Lynne Weir said.

"These works will improve the main entrance to the hospital and create a safer access point by providing separate vehicle and pedestrian entry," Ms Weir said.

During the building works, construction fencing will be in place around the front of the hospital, which will obstruct the view of the main entrance from Uralba Street.

"While this temporary construction fencing is in place, pedestrian access to the main hospital entrance and the Emergency Department will be maintained," Ms Weir said.

"However the existing Patient drop off area to the hospital main entrance will not be available."

A temporary Patient drop-off area will be located on Uralba Street in front of the Emergency Department.

Signage will direct Staff, Patients and Visitors to this access point.

These works are scheduled for completion in August 2015.
