Countdown to Casino drags first 2016 event
RACERS start tuning your engines and finishing your rebuilds because the Casino drags first meeting for 2016 is less than a month away.
After a successful 2015 season following an administrative reshuffle that saw founder Roger Wood cease involvement with the drags, Shane Baker Earthmoving has stepped up to sponsor the first event for this year.
Northern Rivers Drag Racing Association President Mark Anderson said it was great to have Shane Baker, a regular competitor, sponsor the meeting.
In a change from previous years where meetings were held on Saturdays, Mr Anderson said this year the committee decided to have the drags on a Sunday.
“We are racing on Sundays this year so bring the whole family and come on out and race your mates and have some fun or simply just watch a good day of racing,” he said.
“It's race time so come and see us at our first event for 2016 on the 20th of March.
“Gates open at 6am and scrutineering will begin from 7am and run until 9.30am.
“The drivers briefing will be held at 9.45am and racing will start from 10am.”
Racing is held at Casino airstrip on a timed, Australian National Drag Racing Association sanctioned 1/8 mile long track.
As usual, there will be food and drink available all day for spectators, plus a couple of added extras.
“Spectators and competitors can have a look at the show and shine put on by the Northern Rivers Ford Owners Club,” Mr Anderson said.
“Or people might like to grab a feed from the Casino Men's Shed who will be supplying food and drink at the track all day.”
The cost for competitors is $65 which can be paid at the gate after registering online.
For spectators older than 12 the admission charge is $15.
