Motorbike rider killed in horror crash near Kyogle

UPDATE, 3.30pm: A 64-YEAR-OLD man has died after a crash near Kyogle today.

Emergency services were called to Kyogle Road, Lillian Rock, north-west of Nimbin, after a motorcycle and a van collided about 9.45am.

The motorcyclist, a 64-year-old man from Sydney, died at the scene.

The van driver, a 24-year-old woman from Queensland, was uninjured and taken to Nimbin Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Richmond Police District are investigating the crash.

Inspector David Vandergriend from Richmond Police District said the man was part of a group of five motorcycle enthusiasts travelling in the area.

The woman phoned emergency services after the crash.

It is understood that the motorcyclist crossed the middle of the road onto the van's path, but police are continuing their investigations.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.


Original story: EMERGENCY services responded to what is believed to be a fatal crash near Kyogle today.

Two NSW Ambulance crews were called to an incident in at Kyogle Road, Lillian Rock, around 9.50am.

Unconfirmed versions from witnesses at the site said a motorbike crash may have ended in the death of a man in his 60s.

NSW Police have been contacted for comment.
