Firefighters continue to fight fires as conditions ease

UPDATE 8.44PM:  EASING conditions across the fire ground at Kildare Rd, Tenterfield, has seen threats to homes ease and is allowing crews to slowly gain the upper hand.

Firefighters will continue to slow the spread of fire in to the evening.

 

UPDATE 5.12pm: NSW Fire & Rescue have three trucks assisting RFS fighting a fire burning west of Tenterfield.

Another truck is patrolling the township to prevent any ember fires that might break out.

 

UPDATE, 4.25pm: THE fire is continuing to move in an easterly direction towards Tenterfield under strong westerly winds. The fire is spotting ahead of the fire front.

If you are in the areas of Four Mile Creek Road, Holleys Road, Mount McKenzie Road, Finnertys Road, Neagles Lane, Sunnyside Loop Road and Smiths Lane take advice from firefighters on the ground and take shelter when the fire arrives and protect yourself from the heat of the fire. Sunnyside Loop Road is closed.

Monitor conditions in your area. Under strong winds, embers may be blown ahead of the fire front, creating spot fires. These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.

Original story: AN OUT of control fire is burning towards Tenterfield, prompting an Emergency warning from the Rural Fire Service and a call for residents to monitor the situation after.

The fire is burning west of Tenterfield on Kildare Road.

A NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said the fire is burning in strong winds in an easterly direction towards Tenterfield, and is currently five to 10km away from the township.

This fire has been elevated to an emergency warning and residents in the Kildare Road and west Tenterfield areas are to shelter in place as the fire approaches.

Monitor conditions in your area. Under strong winds, embers may be blown ahead of the fire front, creating spot fires. These spot fires may threaten your home earlier than the predicted main fire front.
