Fire risk closes NSW State Forests
ALL STATE forests in NSW will be closed tomorrow due to the severe fire weather expected.
The forests will be closed from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow.
Forestry Corporation chief forester, Ross Dickson, said the closure restricted all public access to the forests.
"The weather conditions expected tomorrow pose a very real threat of fire. To ensure public safety all NSW State forests will be closed for 24 hours," Mr Dickson said.
"No hunting, camping, motorbike riding or any other recreational use is permitted in the forest during the closure.
"If you are already in the forest you should leave for a safe place for 24 hours. If you cannot leave, please seek the directions of local forest staff."
The decision to close State forests was made by the State Emergency Management Committee.
Forestry Corporation regional managers will manage contractor forest operations appropriately.
