Friends pay tribute to Pittsworth pub fire victim

THE young charity worker killed in the deadly Tattersalls Club Hotel fire at Pittsworth has been remembered as passionate football fan and good friend to many.

Steven "Stevie'' Green, 26, from Brisbane died in the deadly blaze Thursday morning.

His friends took to social media today to share their memories of the man they worked with, travelled with and knew.

One friend called on football club Newcastle United to hold a minute silence in his memory, while others expressed their shock at the news.

"When I heard the news I couldn't believe what had happened," one wrote.

"You were always such a good friend to me and always helped me when I needed you.

"In the last 12 months or so you turned your life around and I will always be proud of you."

Mr Green had been raising funds for charity and was part of a group of eight workers when they checked into the ill-fated hotel about 10pm Wednesday.

"We had some good times, you were a good mate," a friend wrote.

"There were bad times but more good times."

Another friend posted: "You will be missed by all."
