Funding available for events and festivals in Byron Shire
A NEWLY created funding pool is seeking applications from event organisers who run significant home grown and emerging events, with $10,000 on offer in Byron Shire for events and festivals.
Up to five events each year will be selected to share in Byron Shire Council's $10,000 sponsorship support program.
Mayor Simon Richardson said the grants have been established to help build community capacity to hold events and encourage organisers to build sustainably principles in to their events.
"Our shire is renowned for hosting and cultivating some of the best events and festivals in Australia," Cr Richardson said.
"Many have started from very humble beginnings and in the early days relied strongly on volunteer and in-kind to support to run each year.
"This is our opportunity to show support for the types of events we value.
"From sporting, spiritual, food, art and music, Council's grant funding aims to encourage local events that will showcase the very best of our people, produce and place."
