Grouper cam a first onboard Reefworld

REAL time underwater images of Australia's World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef can now be seen by all guests at Fantasea Adventure Cruising's Reefworld thanks to the installation of an interactive submarine closed circuit camera.

Reefworld's marine life can now be easily observed, the most striking being the Giant Queensland Grouper, the largest species of fish in Australia.

Fantasea's mascot 'George', estimated at three metres in length, has been in residence at Reefworld since the early 1990s.

A special grouper viewing hole in the floor at Reefworld allows visitors the opportunity to catch a glimpse of George and his fellow marine friends as they pass under foot.

Guests can now also take a closer look at these creatures with the installation of a periscope that has been custom designed allowing visitors to follow George as he goes about his daily business.

The views underwater are brought to life on an 80cm plasma screen which has been erected on the deck of Reefworld allowing kids to follow George and his pals with the camera while marvelling at the immensity of George on the big screen.
