Gulaptis tips discounts for seniors if Coalition wins
POPULAR seniors' programs won't be abandoned under a Coalition government, according to Clarence MP Chris Gulaptis.
Mr Gulaptis said a re-elected Baird government would offer more savings for Seniors Card holders by expanding the number of businesses offering discounts - particularly the ones that send nasty bills.
"As part of this expansion, we will work with a major energy retailer to deliver discounts on gas and electricity bills, a telecommunications company to provide lower-cost broadband, and a supermarket chain so that seniors can access discounts on home delivery of groceries," he said.
The Coalition also would protect $343 million in concessions for seniors axed by the Federal Government which fund discounted public transport fares, energy and water bills, council rates and car registration.
Mr Gulaptis said the government also had committed $2 million to the Tech Savvy Seniors Program for technology training.
