How Jodie is staying strong and 'still battling each day'
FOUR weeks after being told she had only two days left to live, cancer battler and local celebrity Jodie McRae is still fighting every day.
It means her oncologist's wish has almost come true: The doctor told Ms McRae that from a medical professional's point of view she had two days to live but, as her friend, encouraged her not to give up and that "I'll see you in five weeks".
That wish is a week away from coming true.
Ms McRae's daughter, Kaela, said on behalf of her mum on Facebook: "I'm still battling each day, spending my time surrounded by loved ones and doing things like organising my Xmas shopping.
"My medical team and family are helping me every step of the way. Thanks for your support on Facebook too. I'll be in good hands right to the end."
She reassured supporters that after she's gone Jodie's Inspiration will continue to live a very long and exciting life, led by Jesse Smith, who has been at Ms McRae's side during every charity event since its inception last year.
"We're so lucky to have such great support from our team of volunteers," Kaela wrote on behalf of her mum.
"I couldn't have kept this going without their support and I know they will make everything happen as it should in the future.
"I hope you've got your Pink Halloween tickets because I'm told they've been running out the door."
More than 1000 people liked the post and 67 commented. Someone even announced their own fundraising event organised for Jodie's Inspiration.
"I have dedicated my ocean trail hike to your inspirational Respite House ... stay strong beautiful lady," Linda Ananda said.
Ms Ananda is aiming to raise $1000 for the 67km walk she will begin in Yamba and end at Red Rock.
