Jake left broken-hearted by Bachelorette break-up
JAKE Ellis is mending a broken heart after his Bachelorette elimination.
Georgia Love sent him home on the eve of the show's grand final, leaving just Matty Johnson and Lee Elliott in the running for her affections.
"I was a bit shocked that I didn't get the rose," he told APN.
"The time I spent with Georgia all the way from the very start felt so natural. The chemistry and connection was very strong and very real.
"I was falling for Georgia really hard. Every time we were together it felt like there was no one else around. It felt like a real relationship. I really did fight for her and show her the real me."
Georgia said she didn't want to pressure Jake to move away from his sick mum on the Gold Coast to be with her in Melbourne.
"Knowing my mum isn't quite well, she felt like it would be hard to take me away from my family with everything going on," he said.
"I appreciate that form her; she's such an amazing woman. As hard as it was to hear that I really do respect that and appreciate that."
Georgia has been out of spotlight this week after her mum, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer around the same time she was cast as the Bachelorette, was placed into palliative care.
Jake said it wasn't easy watching their break-up play out on television.
"It's been a bit hard to go through it in real life being devastated and heartbroken an then having to watch it back on national TV," he said.
"It took a bit to wrap my head around and not move on but try to move past it.
"As exciting as it is watching the show, it's hard to relive some of those moments.
"I'm still very happy I did it. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience."
He tips Georgia to declare her love for Matty J in tomorrow night's grand final.
"It's a tough thing to work out but if I have to pick it I'll throw my support behind Matty," he said.
"I consider him one of my good friends and I want to see him happy."
The Bachelorette grand final airs tomorrow at 7.30pm on Channel 10.
