Josh Dugan denies latest Origin allegations
JOSH Dugan has hit back at the latest allegations made against he and fellow wild child Blake Ferguson in NSW Origin camp, declaring the pair "have been made the scapegoats" of another Blues series loss.
A day after being dumped for missing the Dragons team bus hours before their crucial win over Penrith, Dugan was back-page news amid claims he and Ferguson damaged a hotel room in the lead up to Origin II.
While those claims are said to have been raised at the NSWRL board meeting that ended in Laurie Daley's axing as coach, Dugan flatly denied any suggestion he and his former Raiders teammate had "trashed any rooms".
"There is absolutely no truth to it at all and all these allegations have done is smear more mud on myself and Fergo," Dugan told Fairfax media, who first reported the allegations on Monday.
"Let's be honest, when it comes to me and Fergo, any time there is something bad out there it comes out straight away not two months later. We did not trash any rooms.
"If we had we wouldn't have been allowed to play in game two or three. Fergo and I have been made the scapegoats. That's becoming pretty obvious.
"We love representing NSW and respect the history of the jersey. Any suggestions that we have trashed a room are not true."
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, Dugan said he had instructed his lawyer to instigate defamation proceedings over the allegations.
