League legends ready to support Evans Head bombers

RUGBY league legends Tommy Raudonikis, John Peard and Les Boyd will headline a fund raising night put on by the Evans Head Bombers Old Boys to raise money for the club.

All three played rugby league during the 1970s and 80s, and have played for Australia according to Ian O'Reilly, Bombers Old Boys president.

"All three are very funny, and all up the show will go for over two hours," he said.

A bonus was bush poet Dave 'prousty' Proust who will be MC for the night.

The fund raiser was all about helping the Evans Head Bombers NRRRL team keep pace with its big town rivals.

Evans Head just doesn't have the same sponsorship clout as the big commercial towns.

"So the Old Boys wanted to help them out financially," Mr O'Reilly said.

"Money raised will be used to run three teams in this year's competition and hopefully this time round they can get to the finals."

Last year the bombers senior team was one game away from this goal.

The League Legends comedy night is set down for March 19 at the Evans Head RSL - roughly a week before the season kicks off.

The $100 ticket price includes a meal and drinks.

"Hopefully, we will get people from surrounding areas coming down," Mr O'Reilly said.
