Lessons with Rosie the cow at Casino High School

ROSIE is a prime class student at Casino High School and will be going to the EKKA in Brisbane.

Luckily student Phoebe Macmillan will be going with her.

Rosie has only been at Casino High for a year and is one of seven cows at the high school as part of the hands-on learning in Agriculture Studies, an extra curricular subject.

The school also has chickens and turkeys.

Teacher Chelsea Wenham said Agriculture Studies was part of the sport program.

“The kids do everything, they break them in and lead them every day,” Ms Wenham said of the students who looked after the cows when at school.

Phoebe was more than happy to lead Rosie around the school to meet visitors.

Rosie will need to be accustomed to crowds when she is entered in the Brisbane EKKA from August 5 to 14.

More than 1000 head of cattle descend on the EKKA Showgrounds to be paraded, judged and displayed throughout the 10 day event.
