Lions give Wilkinson children a day they'll never forget
THE two eldest Wilkinson children enjoyed their 15 minutes of fame on Saturday, acting as the Brisbane Lions team mascots as they ran onto the field.
The pair were granted the honour in the wake of a horrific head-on collision in Logan on April 4 that almost tore their family apart.
The youngest of the three children, Abi, 3, remains in a Brisbane hospital where she is a quadriplegic. She now breathes through a tracheotomy tube.
Tobi, 8, and James, 6, made their debut at the Gabba as the Brisbane Lions took on the Essendon Bombers.
They met the Brisbane Lions team on Saturday morning and were presented with their own jerseys.
While it was all a bit mesmerising for six-year-old James, who was carried on to the field by player Daniel Merrett, his older sister Tobi proudly ran on to the Gabba, moonboot and all, on Saturday afternoon.
Despite the Brisbane Lions going down to Essendon by a meagre eight points, the two oldest Wilkinson siblings spent a day with the players that they will never forget.
The kids have been confined to the hospital as they sit by their sister Abi's side.
Donations for the family continue to climb, with the tally standing at $18,820.
