Local emerging artists' time to shine
IF you're walking down Magellan Street, you may notice a huge pop of colour thanks to RED Inc's pop-up Art Exhibition currently on show.
Lismore Regional Gallery Director Brett Adlington opened the exhibition recently, which includes works from 30 different artists.
"He gave a lovely speech about the value of emerging artists, and the value of diversity," CEO of RED Inc, Marie Gale said.
Mr Adlington also used the opening of the exhibition to publicly announce that RED Inc would be exhibiting at the new gallery once it opened next year.
Ms Gale said the exhibition had been going "brilliantly" since opening, with lots of artworks sold to the public, adding that the success of the exhibition so far, was "a big acknowledgement of the level of professionalism that the artists have reached".
She said that level of professionalism was thanks to the mentoring of artists and residents who have been involved with the RED Inc artists this year.
"It gives an opportunity to these artists, and most importantly out of everything - when you are severely marginalised and you are recognised in the mainstream community as adding value, your sense of self is greatly enhanced," she said.
Art Director at RED Inc, Naomi Feller, said she absolutely "loved" seeing the exhibition open.
"They're all amazing artists and they're all amazingly talented - the purity of their work is amazing."
The exhibition is open at 2/91 Magellan Street, Lismore, until December 21.
