Madonna slammed for naked virus vid
Naked in a milky bathtub of floating rose petals, Madonna has declared coronavirus "the great equaliser" in a bizarre video which was blasted as "privileged" by many of her diehard fans.
The 61-year-old "Material Girl" preaches to her fans from her tub, surrounded by candles and wearing nothing but jewellery, to a background of ominous instrumental music, how the pandemic doesn't care how rich and famous you are.
The alarmingly smooth-faced star says in the clip, posted to her Instagram, "That's the thing about COVID-19. It doesn't care about how rich you are, how famous you are, how funny you are.
"How smart you are, where you live, how old you are, what amazing stories you can tell.
"It's the great equaliser and what's terrible about it is what's great about it.
"What's terrible about it is that it's made us all equal in many ways, and what's wonderful about is, is that it's made us all equal in many ways."
She added with a snort, while seemingly attempting to look sultry at the same time, "Like I used to say at the end of 'Human Nature' every night, if the ship goes down, we're all going down together."
Madonna, who also posted a picture of herself with petals over her nipples, captioned the post: "No discrimination - COVID-19! #quarantine #covid_19 #staysafe."
Madonna's bathtub sermon was met with a wave of negative messages from even her most ardent fans on social media.
Commentator @jessicapgli said, "Sorry my queen, love u so much, but we're not equal. We can die from the same diseases, but the poor will suffer the most. Do not romanticise nothing of this tragedy."
And @jennyeversonsmith responded, "You sure about that? Covid testing … the rich and famous seem to be getting tested without any issues … ahem."
Then @jacksonleylidia continued, "Meanwhile, some are out there with bare essentials and she's posting petalled nipples. Stop it Madonna. I love ya girl but stop."
Quoting her song Like A Prayer, @ricardoguisantes stated, "LIFE IS A MYSTERY. For some people to be safe in their homes, others have to risk their lives."
And @marilins wrote, "If the ship is going down, do you really think we're going down together while you're in your bathtub having people working for you to be there? I love you, my queen.
"But things outside your mansion are very different from what you think. Stay safe and be a little more empathic [sic] to the less privileged ones."
It has been reported the "Like a Virgin" star is isolating in London with her dancer boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams and daughter Mercy James.
She shared a note attached to the door of a Boots store saying the shop was out of hand sanitiser, vitamin C and hand wash, that she tagged as "#quarantine #london."
