More parking is planned for Lismore Base Hospital precinct

TRAFFIC congestion around Lismore Base Hospital may soon be eased with a DA lodged with the Lismore council to create a car park in McKenzie St.

If approved, the temporary car park would be used by construction workers working at the hospital, freeing up space for patients and visitors.

Health Infrastructure (HI) NSW has also announced there are plans to construct a multi-storey facility opposite the hospital.

In a statement to The Northern Star, a HI representative said they recognised there was "significant demand for parking at LBH" and that it was a "priority" for the Local Health District.

"HI has been undertaking planning, design and feasibility studies in order to secure funding for appropriate long-term car parking at Lismore hospital," the representative said.

"This design work means construction will be able to commence rapidly following approval of funding and planning approval from council." Details of the location of the proposed car park have not been released.
