Motorbike and car overtaking when they collided, police

Update 4.56pm: POLICE believe a motorcyclist and the car he collided with were both overtaking vehicles when they crashed on Nimbin Rd this afternoon.

Richmond Police District Inspector David Vandergriend said the two vehicles appeared to have been overtaking slower traffic moving in the same direction when they collided about 1.30pm.

He said further details about the incident were not yet available.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

 

Update 4.03pm: A MAN has been taken to hospital after a serious motorbike crash this afternoon.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the rider, in his 30s, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital after the incident on Nimbin Rd near Jiggi.

She said he arrived at the hospital about 3.30pm, suffering from leg, arm and facial injuries.

The rider collided with a vehicle, sign and railing during the incident about 1.30pm.

 

Update 3.03pm: PARAMEDICS are continuing to treat a motorcyclist at the scene of a crash on Nimbin Rd.

The man in his 30s was thrown from his bike after he collided with the rear of another vehicle near Jiggi about 1.30pm.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said two ambulance crews were still treating the rider at the scene.

The rider had suffered a leg fracture and dislocation and abrasions to his arms and face, the spokesman said.

He is believed to be in a stable condition and it's understood the driver of the car was not hurt.

 

Original story 2.28pm: A MOTORCYCLIST is being treated after he collided with a car and was flung through the air.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said they were called to the scene on Nimbin Rd, between Lismore and Nimbin, about 1.30pm.

She said the motorbike rider - a man in his 30s - had collided with the rear of a car and was flung 10m through the air.

He then struck a sign and a railing on the side of the road, she said.

The rider has suffered leg and arm injuries as well as facial abrasions and he is being treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital.

Three ambulances were called to the scene, near Jiggi, and two remained en route as of 2.20pm.
