Northern Rivers roads to avoid post flood

Simes Bridge clean up: Council workers worked hard on Tuesday morning to get Simes Bridge ready for traffic after the flood.

Lismore City Council:

Closed: Dorroughby Road – landslip. Council crews are working on removing the slip.

Caution: Cosy Camp Road – large gravel washout on edge of road. 

Caution: Dunoon Road, Rosebank end – part road closed due to landslip.

Caution: Repentance Creek Road, minor shoulder washout.

Caution: Ridgewood Road – partial road closed due to landslip.

Caution: Tuntable Creek Road (south of Young Road) – road subsidence along the shoulder.

Caution: Minor landslip on Upper Coopers Creek Road.

Caution: Minor landslip on Wallace Road, The Channon.

There is considerable damage to Lismore City Council’s rural gravel roads… Drivers should take extreme caution.

Closed: Houghlahans Creek Road Causeways – sections of the road have washed away.

Closed: Old Bangalow Road downstream from Tintenbar Road to Tamarind Drive -

INDUNDATION: Locals have gathered at Riverside Park in Lismore to observe rising floodwaters on the Wilsons River. As of noon Sunday, the Wilsons River was 8.40m and rising, with a major flood peak expected sometime this afternoon.

Byron Shire Council

Closed: Watson’s Lane at Emigrant Creek - Tree over road.

Closed: O’Mearas Bridge on Binna Burra Road – Bridge will be closed until further notice for debris removal and inspection.

Caution: Coolamon Scenic Drive, golf course – road surface damaged.

Caution: Wilsons Creek Road – Council staff still to assess and have advised motorists to proceed with caution and not to enter floodwater.

Kyogle Council

Closed: Boorabee Park Bridge - Boorabee Park Bridge (approx. 80m from western intersection of Bentley & Back Creek Roads) is closed due to a broken cross-head. Access remains available via eastern intersection with Bentley Road or via Buchlands Road.
