Political big guns on the Northern Rivers today

IT must be Friday as some of the political big guns are rolling into the Northern Rivers.

Last week it was the PM Malcolm Turnbull making a flying visit to the region and today it is Greens leaders Senator Richard Di Natale.

Senator Di Natale will join Richmond candidate Dawn Walker on the campaign trail in Richmond.

The Greens will announce their commitment to ensure that public hospitals in New South Wales are funded properly.

The announcement will be opposite the front of the Tweed Heads Hospital at 11.30am.

Di Natale is an unusual member of parliament in that he's a former semi-pro AFL player, trained doctor and lives on a farm. He also loves to surf.

Meanwhile, Deputy Opposition leader Tanya Plibersek will join Labor candidate for Page Janelle Saffin on a swing through Grafton and Woolgoolga.

They will both be talking up Labor's commitment to community infrastructure.

It's the second time Plibersek has visited the Northern Rivers in the past couple of months.
