Prepare your baton hand for the Relay for Life cancer fundraiser
RELAYS are fun, but many of us haven't done one since we were in high school.
So perhaps it's time to get your baton hand ready and your legs stretched for a fun community relay all about raising money for cancer research.
The 2016 Lismore & Villages Relay for Life is an overnight event where teams take turns to walk, run or even dance around a track to honour the lives of people touched by cancer.
It's also an opportunity to raise funds for research and local cancer prevention and support services.
Cancer Council NSW Northern Rivers community relations coordinator Abby Wallace said there would also be a series of events in the lead up to the relay, such as a team information night on February 15.
"Teams are able to pick up their team shirts, ask any questions they may have about relay, meet the committee and other relayers and find out what is in store for the main event," Ms Wallace said.
"It also gives teams the chance to share fundraising ideas and what they're doing in the lead up to the event in April."
The Relay for Life will begin on April 2 at 3pm and end on April 3 at 9am.
Teams of two or even 100 can register online for only $20 per person.
The cost includes a relay shirt, overnight camping and breakfast on the second day.
