Rain plays havoc with local sport
PERSISTENT rain on Saturday washed out the first day of the scheduled two-day round of Far North Coast LJ Hooker League cricket.
The four games will now be played as one-dayers this weekend.
There are still three more two-day rounds before the semi-finals.
Elsewhere, some brave golfers around the region defied the wet weather for Saturday competition .
There were still plenty of starters at the Lismore Workers Golf Club.
Far North Coast softballers did not have to worry about getting wet with the competition on hold for the Australia Day long weekend.
Meanwhile, the Lucas Oil Lismore Speedway Saturday night program was washed out.
It was meant to be a two-night competition with four major events.
Saturday would have been preliminary heats for the V8 Dirt Modified Masters, Australian Mod Lite Championship, NSW Litre Car title and AMCA Northern Rivers Classic.
A shortened program ran last night after the track dried out.
