UPDATE 1pm: A MAN badly burned in an explosion at Casino is being treated on-site by paramedics from Casino ambulance station and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

Police are currently not ready to confirm the cause of an explosion and fire that left a 35-year-old man with serious burns to more 80% of his body at the Glen Villa Resort at Johnston Street, Casino.

However, posting on Twitter, Fire and Rescue NSW have said they are working on cooling a gas cylinder on the site.

Once stabilised, the man is expected to be flown to the burns unit at the Royal Brisbane Hospital.

INITIAL REPORT: THERE have been reports of an explosion at a caravan park at Johnston Street, Casino.

The Northern Star is still trying to confirm details, but it is understood a man has been seriously injured and emergency services are en-route to the Glen Villa Resort.
