Single-day tickets on sale for each date of Falls Festival

FALLS Festival will be selling one-day tickets for each one of the three days of the Byron Bay festival for the 2016/17 music extravaganza.

Up until the last festival, Falls only sold one-day tickets for December 31, and three-day tickets were needed to access North Byron Parklandsany otehr day of the festival.

After hosting an afternoon soiree in Byron Bay with co-director Jessica Ducru to launch this year's line up, Falls co-director Brandon Saul confirmed the single day tickets aim to attract more locals to the festival.

"Traditionally you had to buy a season ticket, and had a limited number of one-day tickets available for New Years Eve, and they all sold out very fast" he said.

"This year we'll have one day tickets available for each day, and we've also separated the camping ticket.

"In the past, locals had a pretty hefty tag to pay to drive to the venue and camp on it. Now you can buy a one day or two day ticket and all of those without camping commitment, making it much more affordable for locals."

Mr Saul said the move responds to feedback from Northern Rivers and Tweed residents.

Another change in the ticketing system for Falls Festival this year is the end of the ballot system.

Mr Saul said scrapping the ballot made the ticketing system a lot easier to manage for organisers.

"To be honest it's a lot easier not running the ballot," he said.

"We'd been running a ballot for as long as Falls has been going on, for over 20 years, so it pre-dated online ticket sales," he said.

"People expect to have their ticket right now, so the idea of entering a ballot and waiting for it is not good for the Instagram generation, I think we learned that lesson last year," he said.
