Small changes with Byron Shire grants
THIS year Byron Shire Youth Council will launch its sixth annual Small Change Grants for local young people by local young people.
If you have a great idea to run a project, event, workshop or creative program get involved and apply for a Small Change Grant.
Small Change Grants consist of five individual grants of up to $1,000 each and is aimed at supporting projects run by young people, for young people in the Byron Shire.
Council officer, Belle Arnold, said each year the Small Change Grants showcase the amazing creativity and innovation of local young people and commitment they have to their local communities.
"The grants are also very empowering for the young organisers. The funding supporting can kick-start a career or help deliver a project that may not have gotten off the ground. It's a very rewarding," she said.
Past successful applications have included drama, singing and fashion workshops, girl's circles, inter-generational music groups, tree planting environmental awareness days and community celebrations.
Grants are open now until the June 30.
