The early bird catches the snag
THIS morning Beef Week early birds will consume more than a half a tonne of local beef at the The Richmond Dairies Free BBQ in Walker St in Casino's CBD.
The Breakfast with the Butchers event will start at 7am and run through to 9am.
The free breakfast includes your choice of locally made snag or fresh steak sandwich, with or without tomato or barbecue sauce.
The meat is provided by local butchers and other goods are donated by Woolworths, Casino.
Norco Foods are also a major sponsor of the event, contributing an abundance of flavoured milk drinks.
But it's not just the free steak that has the crowds coming in their droves, there's also plenty of attractions for the whole family to enjoy.
These include laughing clowns, face painting for the little ones, loads of live entertainment, the cow milking competition, cow pat lotto and the busking competition finals on stage.
There will be $600 in prizes up for grabs during the morning, for the Crowe Horwath Best Beef Sausage Competition, in which Casino's local butchers fight it out for the title of 2016's best sausage.
The butchers will present their best beef sausages for judging from 7am and all sausages will be judged on their taste and texture.
Each uncooked sausage will also be graded on its presentation, content, colour and aroma.
This year the breakfast will be complemented by the Country IT Busking Competition finals, which will be held on the main stage in Walker St.
The event this morning is sponsored by Richmond Dairies, Woolworths, 2LM Radio, the Northern Co-operative Meat Company, Darragh's Plaza Butchery, Madsen Meats, Richmond Valley Meats, Smiths Butchery, South Casino Butchery and Norco Foods.
