Brittany Howard: the voice that shook Tyagarah at Bluesfest
THE soulful Brittany Howard, of Alabama Shakes, was arguably the best performer at this year's Bluesfest.
The lead singer of the US band gave a powerful, emotive, sweat-soaked performance leaving herself and the packed audience breathless.
Bumping the band up to top spot as Friday night headliners was a fair decision by festival organisers.

Just as impressive was Brittany's technical skill as lead guitarist, once again dominating the stage with gut-wrenching solos as she flung the instrument around like it was just another limb.
All of which left many of us in the audience begging the question: Lenny who?
What little time there was for chatter between songs saw Brittany thank the crowd for letting the band showcase their new stuff which included Don't Wanna Fight, the single from the band's upcoming album Sound and Colours, with the single played early in the set and inflating audience numbers most likely due to its regular play on Triple J.
It's been two years since their last trip Down Under and here's hoping we don't have as long to wait for their next one and the stunning Brittany Howard.
