Thomas: LBH upgrade won't depend on sale of poles and wires
VETERAN Lismore MP Thomas George put the $180 million LBH upgrade promise at the front and centre of his election campaign launch this morning.
Mr George attacked Labor claims the budgeted promise was "funny money", saying it was fully funded and didn't depend on the sale of the poles and wires from which several other coalition promises depended.
The campaign was launched by Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan, who praised Mr George's "compassion and empathy" for his community.
On the divisive CSG issue on which his three opponents are milking, Mr George argued the coalition had done more to regulate the industry than any government in the country, which included a proper buyback scheme for licenses.
He said he wasn't a "single issue" politician, but someone who represented all his constituents across the large and diverse electorate.
