Troy Cassar-Daley rules the Golden Guitars
TROY Cassar-Daley is the reigning king of Australian country music after taking home four Golden Guitars in Tamworth tonight.
The father of two took home the most gongs at the 41st annual Country Music Awards of Australia, including Album of the Year and Male Artist of the Year for his eighth studio album Home.
Daley dedicated his final award of the night to his manager Roxanne Brown, who encouraged him to produce his own album.
"Without Roxy this (Home) wouldn't have happened," he said.
"I doubted myself for ages.
"She said 'you're old enough and you're ugly enough to look after yourself'."
The 43-year-old certainly looked like he felt right at home in Tamworth, where he has been performing since the tender age of 11.
"It doesn't get old I tell ya," he said after winning his third award of the night.
Fellow Grafton natives The McClymonts took home two awards for their third studio album Two Worlds Collide, including Top Selling Album of the Year, although the sisters were noticeably absent from the awards night.
Catherine Britt, who tied Daley with seven nominations, took home one award for Female Artist of the Year.
The new-look CMAA awards ceremony included 13 live performances and guest presenters Charlotte Dawson and Home and Away's Steve Peacock.
The late Jimmy Little was honoured in a special tribute and I've Been Everywhere songwriter Geoff Mack was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.
The night closed with a rendition of Mack's iconic hit performed by the Sunny Cowgirls.
