BYRON residents Lisa Hunt and Bernard Fanning are part of the line up of this week's 45th Tamworth Country Music Festival 2017.

The event, happening from January 20 to 29, includes 700 artists in 2800 events, making it the biggest music festival in Australia.

We asked funk and Soul singer Lisa Hunt about her shows at Tamworth.

What sort of show did you offer atTamworth? Did you play any country music?

I did my Forever Soul show. I have been doing it for five years.

It's more about having an alternative to just country music and it hugely popular.

Like a palate cleanse I suppose, amongst the many servings of country shows. That said I do a couple of country tunes for the fun of it.

Have you been influenced by an country artists?

Absolutely. Country music was a big part of my upbringing.

I admire many great singers and songwriters. More the old school like Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash.

I've even written a few country songs that my family loved. (laughs)
