17-member Wantok group confirmed for Boomerang Festival

THE second announcement for the Boomerang Festival may only be one act, but within it are enough artists to fill the bill.

Wantok Sing Sing are set to perform Wan Solwara Pipel at the October event.

The group includes 17 members including Frank Yamma, Vika and Linda Bull, George Telek, Djakapurra, Albert David and more under the musical direction of David Bridie.

The artists, including dancers and musicians, come from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, the Torres Strait Islands, the Cook Islands and Australia.

Their performance is an epic journey that follows the songlines of the indigenous people of Oceania in a fusion of music and dance.

The group performed at the London Olympic Festival during the Games.

The Boomerang Festival will be held at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, October 4-6. Early bird tickets are available from boomerangfestival .com.au or phone 6685 8310.
